The local executiveg NGO in Koka is SAEDO, which  stands for: “Social And Environmental Development Organization”.

In 2007, three businesses near the village of Koka, Florensis Ethiopia PLC, Red Fox Ethiopia PLC (DümmenOrange) and Ethiopia Cuttings PLC (Syngenta), founded the NGO SAEDO.

 

SAEDO is controlled by a Board and an Assembly. Representatives from the farms and various high-ranking people from the area (university, city council) are involved. SAEDO's organizational structure ensures low overhead costs. The project staff consists of a project coordinator, a social worker, teachers, a number of kitchen staff, an accountant/secretary, a number of guards and a driver.

 

An independent accountant conducts an annual audit of SAEDO's financial affairs. In addition, the Ethiopian government conducts a three-yearly audit of the organization.

If all requirements are met, SAEDO receives a new permit.
