Thank you for your donation for Sifen's surgery!

In December 2025, the Desta Foundation raised money for Sifen's hand surgery. Sifen is a young girl in Koka, Ethiopia. Her fingers were fused, making it difficult for her to use them.

We are overwhelmed by the donations we received to pay for the surgery to separate her fingers. We raised the necessary amount and even more. The surgery took place at the end of January. Sifen stayed in the hospital for several weeks so the doctors could monitor her recovery and properly care for her wounds. Sifen was also able to practice using her hands. A second surgery was necessary to treat infections. Thankfully, that also went well.

Sifen has now been discharged from the hospital and is a happy girl with a much better hand function than before.

Did you also make a donation? On behalf of Sifen, her caregivers, and the Desta Foundation, thank you very much for your support in making this possible.

PS: The Desta Foundation will use any money not spent on Sifen's surgery to fund medical care for other children. You can read more about this in one of the next newsletters, as there are more children in need of surgery or medical care.
